Pac-Man’s 30th Anniversary Celebrated with Google Doodle http://wp.sitelet.com/2010/05/21/pac-man-30th-anniversary-google-doodle/ http://wp.sitelet.com/2010/05/21/pac-man-30th-anniversary-google-doodle/#comments Sat, 22 May 2010 02:12:40 +0000 http://wp.sitelet.com/?p=181 Arrow up, arrow down. Left, right quick. Waka, waka, waka, waka, waka.

Maybe it is all just a game for Web giant Google. But one thing is for sure — they sure know how to celebrate an anniversary. The clever folks at Google presented today’s home page with an interactive Doodle in the style of the wildly popular and addicting video game of the 80’s.

Join the celebration by inserting a coin and playing a game or two.

The State of Twitter: U.S. Awareness Far Exceeds Use http://wp.sitelet.com/2010/04/30/state-of-twitter/ http://wp.sitelet.com/2010/04/30/state-of-twitter/#comments Sat, 01 May 2010 02:52:57 +0000 http://wp.sitelet.com/?p=177 A new report from Edison Research called Twitter Usage in America: 2010 makes at least one thing abundantly clear — people in the U.S. know about Twitter. What is less clear, and far more significant to marketers, not to mention the future course of Twitter, is do they know what to do with it?

ShareThis Upgrades, Gets More Interactive http://wp.sitelet.com/2010/03/07/sharethis-upgrades-gets-more-interactive/ http://wp.sitelet.com/2010/03/07/sharethis-upgrades-gets-more-interactive/#comments Sun, 07 Mar 2010 22:35:13 +0000 http://wp.sitelet.com/?p=170 ShareThis, one the Web’s leading content sharing widgets just got some new upgrades, and they are substantial.

Stream is a real-time view of what’s being shared across the Web through the ShareThis community. Think of it like Google’s scrolling real-time search results box or a stream of Facebook updates. For now, it’s only on the ShareThis website, but will soon be a customizable, embeddable widget for websites and available with an API. See how ShareThis Stream works.

New share buttons are more customizable. Publishers can now remove particular networks from the ShareThis options for users. Don’t want your content shared through Twitter, but prefer Facebook? That can be accomodated. It’s a nice way for publishers to control where the conversations about their content is taking place, or even to run A/B tests to find what networks are of most value.

100 Million Users Access Facebook via Mobile http://wp.sitelet.com/2010/02/11/100-million-users-access-facebook-via-mobile/ http://wp.sitelet.com/2010/02/11/100-million-users-access-facebook-via-mobile/#comments Thu, 11 Feb 2010 22:59:22 +0000 http://wp.sitelet.com/?p=149 A recent entry on Facebook’s official blog states that more than 100 million people are “actively using Facebook from their mobile devices every month.” This figure is growing fast, and it’s not just limited to those entering via a Facebook app on the iPhone and AT&T. From the blog post: “This usage happens on almost every carrier in the world and comes less than six months after we announced 65 million people on Facebook Mobile.”

Google Acquires Aardvark, Beefs up Social Search? http://wp.sitelet.com/2010/02/11/aardvark/ http://wp.sitelet.com/2010/02/11/aardvark/#comments Thu, 11 Feb 2010 22:47:18 +0000 http://wp.sitelet.com/?p=144 Google is on a social roll. After announcing social sharing feature Buzz in Gmail, they now have announced the acquisition of Aardvark, a social media search startup. Aardvark is a sort of mashup between services like KGB and Yahoo! Answers. You type a question (from the web, IM, email, Twitter, or iPhone), and Aardvark taps the social Web to find the best person to answer that question. Of course, we won’t know exactly how Google will use Aardvark. But if Google Social Search is any indication of where they are headed, it’s not hard to imagine this acquisition will support those efforts.

Google ‘buzz’es Its Way Into Social Media http://wp.sitelet.com/2010/02/09/buzz/ http://wp.sitelet.com/2010/02/09/buzz/#comments Tue, 09 Feb 2010 23:22:50 +0000 http://wp.sitelet.com/?p=110 Just as Ustream is making a push to deliver stronger video mechanisms and cut into YouTube’s empire, Google just launched a new social media tool aptly named ‘buzz’ that will undoubtedly grab a portion of Twitter’s market share.

Google buzz integrates new features with existing Gmail accounts. Through Gmail, a user can now easily interact with sites already used, such as: Twitter, Picasa, Flickr and Google Reader or prompt a conversation directly from the phone.

Ustream – The Next YouTube? http://wp.sitelet.com/2010/02/06/ustream/ http://wp.sitelet.com/2010/02/06/ustream/#comments Sat, 06 Feb 2010 16:49:14 +0000 http://wp.sitelet.com/?p=99 Ustream (ustream.tv) is making a push to become the Web’s live broadcast leader, and perhaps the next online video revolution. Recently they released Ustream Producer; a desktop app that helps users create more professional live broadcasts. Now, instead of a simple one-dimensional live webcast, users can import audio and video media to include in the broadcast, incorporate picture in picture co-hosting, pop-out chat rooms, screencast within the broadcast, syndicate to Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and AIM, and produce higher quality streams; all for free.

Making an Impact

Businesses can build buzz through all networks they use to announce a “live product unveiling,” then easily use Ustream to execute the task. Live webinars can also help a business educate their consumers when time is of the essence. Media websites can take advantage of Ustream to air live interviews and updates from events they are attending, or to cover local events as they unfold. This holds the advantage of being “first” in any crowded industry.

Facebook Already Mature — At Six http://wp.sitelet.com/2010/02/04/facebookatsix/ http://wp.sitelet.com/2010/02/04/facebookatsix/#comments Fri, 05 Feb 2010 01:58:27 +0000 http://wp.sitelet.com/?p=83 It’s hard to imagine the reach that this six year old could have. While most six year olds can barely grab the kitchen sink, Facebook, at six today, is poking the belly of the clouds. With 400 million users, this young company burgeoned into a global champion overnight and has changed the delivery of marketing, advertising and news through its social prowess.

“Tonight we’ll host a celebration at Facebook headquarters, and we’ll release a handful of new things that will improve people’s Facebook experience.” – Mark Zuckerberg

Can’t wait to see where they will hold their 7th birthday party.
